What Kind of Church is This?
What do we mean by "Baptist"
What Kind of Church is This?In North America today, the label “Baptist” often gets distorted and associated with some weird people and groups. We still call ourselves a “Baptist” church because that’s our heritage but we think it’s important to try to be clear about what we mean when we use the “b-word”.
So what’s a “Baptist” according to FBC Wheaton?

A Brief History
What Kind of Church is This?Wheaton’s First Baptist Church was formed about the time that Abraham Lincoln was drafting his Gettysburg Address. About twenty brave pioneers created this local church in 1864. The church has met continuously since that year in various facilities in the city of Wheaton. It’s a church with a great heritage. Today we try to strike a dynamic balance between respecting our heritage of faith and service and envisioning creative new strategies to meet needs in the 21st century.
