"Choose" to Give Holiday Campaign
![]() |
Each year during the holiday season the First Baptist Wheaton family takes a special offering to support specific ministry initiatives currently being pursued in line with our mission to encourage all people to be devoted followers of Christ. As usual, this year’s campaign includes projects with both global and local impact. However, this year, you are being given the opportunity to “CHOOSE” TO GIVE your gifts toward the project(s) you are most passionate about. |
GLOBAL IMPACT
UGANDA YOUTH MINISTRY TENT PROJECT :: John and Jenny Davis are home on furlough from Uganda where they serve with World enture. When they return they will be starting an apprentice program for high school graduates. “Our vision is to see the church in Uganda transformed by Jesus Christ by e uipping high school graduates. We will focus on character development, mentoring and discipleship before sending them out to serve Christ and others in their community.“ CHOOSE TO GIVE here, and your gift will help purchase a meeting tent, tables and chairs.
FEED STARVING CHILDREN IN AFRICA :: Hunger is the world’s number one health risk. It kills more people every year than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined. “There is so much famine and we are giving away as much food as possible but our resources are limited. We always coordinate with a local church, preach the good news and have seen many miracles, including salvation.”—Curtis Reed. “We believe that reaching the next generation with the Gospel and educa-tion is the only hope. Of course, first the kids need food—or there will not be a next generation’”.—George Renner. CHOOSE TO GIVE here, and your gift will go to both Renners’ and Reeds’ to help them meet the increasing need for food.
SPECIAL MISSIONARY GIFT :: First Baptist Wheaton supports over 30 Missionaries around the world. Most are under supported and have significant financial needs. Here is a note we received following last year’s special gift: “Thank you so very much for your generous gift. Through you God has met our increased expenses in electricity when we had to run our generator to keep food fro en and cold. God is good and so are you!” If you CHOOSE TO GIVE here, your gift will be delivered as a special gift to all our missionaries.
LOCAL IMPACT
PEOPLE’S RESOURCE CENTER :: Since 1975, the People's Resource Center (PRC) has helped meet the needs of low-income DuPage residents. Most first come to utilize the PRC food pantry, where they are given a cart and allowed to select the types of food their family eats, de-pending on health issues, culture and taste. By the time they fill their cart, they’ve received approximately 100 of fresh fruit and vegetables, frozen meat, bakery items, canned goods and non-perishable food items. CHOOSE TO GIVE here, and help us feed 100 families for a month.
YOUTH PASTOR RELOCATION :: Youth are leaving church at staggering rates. The only group that bucks this trend are those who have had some real, personal and committed discipling from parents and at least one other significant adult. If statistics alone could prove anything, it would be that investment in our youth now is the only way we can grow church. If our youth are not the church of today, they will certainly not be the church of the future! CHOOSE TO GIVE here, and help relocate our next Youth Pastor to Wheaton to help us disciple our youth.
CAPITAL RESERVE REPLENISHMENT :: Discipleship doesn’t get old but buildings do. Over the past few years we have had to repair the roof, replace an HVAC unit, plus we have had added Search committee and pastor relocation expenses. All of which have left our Capital Reserve fund depleted. ooking ahead we can anticipate re-placing additional aging HVAC units and making other building maintenance repairs. CHOOSE TO GIVE here, and help replenish this fund.
NEW CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP SERVICE :: New people are getting connected to our church family on a weekly basis! One recent visitor who often drives by our building explained that they “heard a voice” encouraging them to check us out and so they did... And stayed for both services that morning! An additional service in the gym at 11:00am will provide the space needed for more worshipers to celebrate God with us and join our church family. CHOOSE TO GIVE here, and help with the new lighting, curtains, sound equipment and more that are needed to get the gym ready.
